Rainy day movie review number three! Omg this was amazing!!!!
now I know i promsed review on despicable me next, in my defence it will be coming soon lol .now that we have that out of the way let me explain what happened. I had most of my christmas shoping done early in the season but still found myself wondering up and down the aisles of best buy searching for aditional christmas treasures. I was about to give up on this yet to be fruitful search, when a blue ray caught my eye. it was a cute cover with female eyes popping out from underneath some leaves . I emidiately had my irish alarm going of for this, which looked like a leaf man from irish and celtic legend.
upon review of the package i discoverd that the story does take place in a place named kells and tells a fantastic story of how the legendary book comes into being as well as having a wolf girl and a norse invasion! well it sounded like this film was right up my ally. nominated for an academy award it touched on my heratiage on more than one front, so it was a must have . for my son of course......
well the wait was on and i was in the middle of a night with insomnia when i decided that i would open the movie for something fresh to watch and possible inspiration for some art. i was imediately thrown into this world with stunning cinematic quality from camera angles that reveald even live action film and music that would even make non riverdancers do the jigg. i watched the film from begining to the end drooling . i was actually bumed when the film came to an end and then watched it with a fantastic commentary track. well that is that. now i will hit the details some more.
the film starts in the Abbey of kells during the ninth century in ireland. The head monk known of course as an Abbot, goes by the name of Cellach. His primary focus is to wall his city and keep it safe for he is sure that the norse will make their way with the viking hord and level his beloved city and destroy his people and their faith. Now enter the main charachter of this story the young monk and nephew of the abbot, Bredan.
the other monks tell eachother and he viewer a tale bot the fabled book of Iona a book that is so pure that it could blind the unfaithful . the monk Aidn, ( looks just lke willie nelson) that is in charge of creating this book is forced to flee his home to kells for the pagan viking hord has destroyed his home and are on their way. there is growing fear that he might not be able to finish the book or that the book could be destroyed by the hord.
Aidan sees a special innocence emminating from our hero and asks for his assistance with the book. brendan sneekes out of the city's walls and deep into the forest where he meets one of the coolest characters i have seen in a long time: Aisling the wolf fairy. she helps brendan in his quest with the berries used to paint with, but he has to promise not to enter her forest again for she is afraid that he will be devoured by some of the beasts and spirits that live within. he agrees to this bargain.
brendan's uncle aidan becomes furious and is ready to almost topple his own wall of faith by forbidding brendan from further assisting Aiden with the book, despite the warning from the old monk that he believes the book is needed for the survival of civilization. this adds a great conflict between the faithful and the desire to make fortifications and survive the attack. this makes a fantastic thought pop up in my head and that is that, faith is not just a protector of man but at the same time can be the last refuge and comfort for some. this dinamic of conflict between aiden, cellach and brendan is amazing as well as the fairy world and myth being brought into this. that aspect is one of the most amazing parts of the celtic legacy presented in this film.
well that would be a great point for me to change to the next subject... this film was the most amazing and beautifuly drawn film. it rivaled all the disney classics but yet had the elements of modern cartoon favorites like samurai jack or fairly odd parents. the style really is submersed in traditonal art styles mixed with discriptions of fairies and spirits of the old world. this includes the harsh black and red colors used for the vikings and there ominus presence including the classic horned helmet. the film can be enjoyed by both sides of my people. it has a strong christian message but yet the pagan magic and fairies are great.
.
I thought that this tale was complete, artistically unmatched . the character developement was lacking in some areas but was made up for with this overall masterwork.
well, must say that this is a sweeping tale of faith , magic and human a.nd fairy spirit it s a must see and I did leave out some parts of the story so, you still have a surprise or two.

Fantasy arm sleeve project.
this is an arm sleeve that i have been working on for the last couple of months. it is very unique and one of a kind. i am trying to use a very illustrative style to this tattoo as if it were one of my paintings. I can definitely see a style developing out of this for me. i believe that the influences on me thus far, other than tom and tasha (two artists that i work) with would be tattooer, uncle allan (http://www.uncleallan.com/) and fine artist, brom (http://www.bromart.com/)
im not done yet with this piece, there are already two mythical beasts at play here. there is a minotaur and a fawn. the next monster that will be added is medusa and her flowing head of snakes to cap off the lower half of this sleeve. we will probably throw in some of the undead due to a pre existing zombie tattoo.
.
these next three paintings are by the artist mentioned above, uncle allan. they could be deamed satanic or innapropriate by individuals that are looking at them. i encourage you to do as i have done and look past that and realize the level of detail and illustrative stylings of this master.
The last part of the blog here is going to bring up one of my favorite fine artists that i was introduced to in art school and have had the pleasure of meeting, Brom. he has worked on many fantasy card games and book covers as well as being the driving force behind his own books now totalling three. well i hope that you enjoy the art presented to you and i leave with thanking my heros for thier inspiration. please stay tuned to watch my art grow and illustrative tattoos become more refined.

I almost agree
Choosing healthy foods now called a mental disorder
Not in the favor of either points of view, you wanna eat healthy? Do it then. You wanna eat fast food then do it.
It is all about moderation and not over doing either.

Russell Crowe is back!!! rainy day movey review #2
Russell Crowe’s back, in this compelling film and role worthy of his powerful maximus like persona. He is a man on a mission and will not give up. It is terrific. He plays John Brennan who's wife Laura, played by Elizabeth Banks ( http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Elizabeth+Banks) is arrested and jailed for murder.
The boss who just fired Laura is found bludgeoned to death in a parking garage and her swift temper is revealed in a nasty fight with a woman she thinks is making moves on John.
Flash forward, John and their son visit Laura in prison where she will be spending the rest of her life. The appeals have run out and there is no hope of a miracle.
But John refuses to give in or budge. He redoubles his efforts to do something, anything, hitting the wall again and again. But things pay off when he stumbles on the story of a man played by Liam Neason (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000553/) who escaped prison multiple times.
He meets the man and tapes their conversation. Neason as always, commands the screen and i believe steals the scene acting as a prison hardened man. He warns Crowe that the idea of breaking his wife out of prison may be dangerous. Crowe, now pushes foreward with an obsession worthy of a look back to one of his previous films A Beautiful Mind. His plan is to break her out and wel,l in shor,t make it out of Pittsburgh, where she is imprisoned before it is locked down and they both go to jail for life or are killed.
without wavering loyalty he assumes that his wife is innocent even though she trys to tell him that she is guilty .he keeps pushing through with his plan to help her escape. there is of coures, maps and plans posted on a wall to make it obvious of what is happening. this scene of obsession is fantasti,c when he looks up how to defeat locks using a bump key via YouTube. this small detail to some, really shows how much the world has changed and makes the world the characters live in, modern and believable.
The cast is amazing in this film and the emotional journey of John (Crowe) Laura (Banks) is a believable one, including their strained relationship with her being incarcerated, not only with John but their young son as well. the supporting cast is amazing and has screen greats such as Brian Dennehey. well now that you know the basic plot, and that this film more than lives up to the small amount of hype and marketin,g i must say it is more than worthy of a full priced ticket in any theatre.
If you know me, i am a big Crowe fan and I feel that he really pulls you in and drives this movie. the director of the film Crash Haggis did an amazing job with the cinematography of the film as well as the casting. the wide angle and flowing sweeps of the camera could rival a Michael Bay film, (Transformers). my favorite is a 360 spin of a car on the interstate .
well again a geat film and a must see in my book. thats it from the rainy day movie review. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1458175/.

Some reasons I dont trust the catholic church, this is crazzy....
Ok yes, I am a conspiracy thoerorist. yes i know minds naturally jump to conclusions and can make associations that dont actually exist. I believe in all sorts of ramdom things: chi, spirits, etc.
I do love a good conspiracy here and there even if it is just fun to speculate over a good cup of coffee and then let it all go and move on to the next ridiculous idea. so while I have been studyng on the Third Reich's use of psychics and occult magic, etc. I came across the Thule society and their Black Sun image looked familiar to me.
This is the Black Sun logo. well upon the return to my house i did some research and was astonished, but not surpised at what i discoverd.
Now im going to start this off by saying that unlike other conspiracy blogs and so on i will openly admtt i dont have exact parallels between what im going to connect. im not trying to make anyone mad and im not trying to ruffle featheres too much on a sensitive subject. Howeve,r that will be inpossible and you will soon see why.
Well, are you ready? here we go....soda check, warm house check, son asleep check. well go to the bathroom and here we go.
well like i said, i was surpised to find out that the wheel or cog was actually at the center of this design. now the wheel is, and will always be associated in the realm of the occult for its obvious qualities, of spining such as lunar cycles, etc... but back to what happened. i always pass a sign on the way into town that has a ton of signs and symbols of local clubs. examples are: the Blue Lodge Masonic Order, Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus and many other conspiracy theorist's wet dreams.
Here, we see Hitler shaking hands with one of the Hitler Youths. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal, right? yet youre falling asleep. here is another piture... I know i am not the only one to have discovered these pictures but crazy.
who is this young man that looks so handsome, dressed as a future footsoldier of doom? none other than the current Pope of the Catholic church, himself. now I know people were doing srange things back then just so they were not made enemies of the state and/ or killed by the gestapo. but that is not the large association i want to make it... gets deeper than that.
let me again show you now some symbols. Other than one being the pope himself, here are some icons of Mary and other connections.
in the Vatican! in front of the Nazi party member and his "god". Again, i close with this: there are some strange paralells here . I dont trust a man that at one point held the position he did. yes people change but then the other connections here show that some force of connection either evil or imaginary connects all things. i know that the church's involvment is questionable and i didnt show much proof so i am leaving you with these images.

well i noticed the Rotary Club ( http://www.rotary.org/EN/ABOUTUS/Pages/ridefault.aspx ) had a cog as their symbol... not a big surpise to be honest, considering the clubs orgins etc. now i know that they do alot of good for charity and so do alot of orginizations that i will bring up toda,y but the connections are very peculiar, so i had to share.
gears of war cog |
so now here is where the fun begins: of course, the cog is used in alot and by alot of groups and even pop culture games such as Gears o fWwar.
well there are definitely much more powerful and dark groups that have used them. Then it has moved beyond that, but im just giving you the back story of how i came to these conclusions.
Quick question: who else has used the cog? and what does this have to do with my mistrust in the Catholic Church? im sure as we all know, the Nazi war machine was obsesed with symbols and the occult. Here are some images i have provided that show the Third Reich's use of the cog in battle standards and as part of their symbolism.
Here are a few more and then some pecuilar photos that i came across. i know that i am not the only person to bring up part of this but the lines and connections afterward, are great.
Now that all the cogs have turned, i came across some interesting pictures of Hitler and an even more powerful dictato,r depending on how you look at his position and power.

ok now that we are done with that portion, notice the stars around Mary's head, this is depicitng her halo. this is not out of the ordinary from the world of Christian icons. i have painted them myself before. however then when you see this image that follows:
You are left to ponder the resemblance. what is it? This is the flag of the European Union . this is where you call me an idiot or continue to read. youre like, 'oh wow!Look, the stars match. yes they do. so let me get this right, the leader of the world's largest religion was a member of the Nazi Party and his church now has a logo for the Euopean Union? seems like a far stretch. yes it does until you look at where the union was signed.
